    Isle of Wight Festival

Further to the IOW? thread, I was there and, at the risk of sounding like a mad fanboy, it was FANTASTIC.

Huge crowd, great performance, superb weather, joyous occasion.... I could go on.

I'm sure someone will be on later with a clearer list, but the set list began with Hideaway, ended with Valentine, and included You and Me, No Contest, Your Friends are False, Long Time Coming, Panic Attacks (my personal highlight) and, surprisingly (but pleasantly) Lost in a Melody.

It was great to be so close to the front of such an appreciative crowd, and the glorious weather towards the end of the set made it even better.

The enthusiasm from Greg, who was conducting the crowd and making everyone do Mexican waves, was a far cry from the disappointed "angry old man" schtick from John Lydon and his tired old Sex Pistols.

Delays were one of the main reasons I travelled from South Yorkshire to spend four days in a noisy field but they, and the festival as a whole, were well worth it.Smile

    Yeah and it was great.

No Girl's on Fire or Hooray, which was a little surprising.

     Fabulous set though. Smile

Um, think that must be Touchdown you're thinking of? ...they didn't do No Contest on Sunday.

It was unquestioningly a fabulous set, and the Boys totally rocked the IOW!!!

The Boys took the sunshine, the good times and indeed the boogie with them to the island.  As always they totally owned that stage from the minute they took to it.

Next to Sharon & myself at the barrier were a group of girls who were front & centre on the barrier for the third day of the festival.  Intrigued by our Delays banner (and the fact we managed to not only sweet talk the security supervisor in to letting us hang it on the barrier but who then in fact proceeded to help us tie it there), and by Liam the Delays bear, they were asking us what Delays were like, what they could expect?? ..........to round off our glowing references I simply, and honestly, said to them  'put simply, the one thing I have NEVER heard or seen is anyone come away anything less than impressed by Delays!!!'

By the time we left the girls at the barrier they were raving about Delays..... a few more to the fold I feel Big Smile

Anyway, I've put a few photos up on the photo section of the forum for anyone who cares to peruse.

Oops sorry, you're quite right, it was Touch Down. I always get those two confused for some reason.

I think the boys must've scored hundreds of new converts. When we went down the front there were about five rows standing but when I turned round mid-set, it looked like more like 500. Well done lads.

    I know, brilliant isn't it!!!

To be able to shake up & rock a Sunday afternoon festival crowd like that just proves yet again there is no one quite like Delays, and how much better a time slot they should have had too..... it's SO great to think how many people went away after that set and will look up Delays, buy their music, become addicted too Wink

    Nice one Betty B x

    Nice one Mupton too

Lydon has lost a little sparkle. Awful business with Duffy at the Mojo's. Still love the fucki*g bones off PiL though
