The Verve last night at Glastonbury

Ah! Top lads. I thought they stole the whole weekend with that performance. The new song at the very end sounded great. Did anyone else tune in to watch Wigan's finest?

I did and I agree they were superb. And this is coming from someone who isn't even that much of a fan.

I thought Elbow's set was also fantastic, especially 'The Fix' and 'One Day Like This'.

    Is anyone listening?

I can't stand Richard Ashcroft as a person, but last night the Verve plain and simply rocked the place. However, I would have gone to see The National if I was there - an amazing set from an amazingly underrated band (probably like my second favourites after Delays!)

Couldnt agree more, have been a massive fan for as long as i can remember (as have all us Delays) and was pretty nervous waiting for them to come on TV at rhythm section Hq. All nerves disappeared as soon as 'this is music' kicked in though, amazing! It was undoubtably the best ive ever seen them play on TV, and made me absolutely gutted to not be there (although waking up in my own bed this morning was certainly preferable) 'Space and time' was my personal highlight, beautiful! x

I was at Glastonbury but didn't fancy the Verve.  After Leonard Cohen, who played a completely and utterly beautiful set that brought tears to my eyes, I wanted a more "up" end to the festival, so went to see Manu Chao on the Jazz Stage, pausing by the Leftfield tent to catch the end of Billy Bragg's set.

I didn't go down for it in the end but caught a fair amount of coverage on the BBC. From the full sets I managed to see I thought Black Kids, Kings of Leon and in particular The Cribs were tremendous.

The question for T. Black Kids or Kings Of Leon.

Caught it on YouTube, they sounded fantastic.  Yes

Kings as well.  Their music seems tailor-made for the festival vibe.  Stiiiiiill can't get used to Caleb's short hair, like over a year later.

I quote Richard " Big thanks to Jay z ,but tonight it's about rock and roll ! " and boy did they deliver.

Thought Vampire Week-end were perfect and

I would have loved to have seen Manu Chao and danced till I could no longer stand up.

oh not forgetting the OAP  Mr Diamond what a showman.

Not that it matters but could anyone make out what the hell Amy Winehouse was saying? I noticed she kept sipping a red drink on stage and I'm guessing that wasn't a smoothie! Tongue Tied

All that matters is the music.....

The Verve palyed well I thought, everything sounded clear and strong yet no sounds canceled each other out. I'd say was a slightly strange choice for headline as they have some great songs but not too many of them, i dont know i'm not a Verve fan. To me the set was slow to build but ended brilliantly.

    I see colours...

He was fantastic.  Evidently the set he played on the Pyramid during the day (which I missed) was mostly new stuff and the festival closing set on the Jazz World Stage (which I saw) was an amazing show.  I'm not really familiar with his back catalogue but it was still a brilliant set and a perfect way to finish to festival.

I saw The Verve Glastonbury gig on TV on Sunday night and was blown away. It nearly moved me to tears at certain points. I've always liked them but they have never been one of my top fav bands...but reckon that might have changed!

Love Is Noise sounded fantastic - unusual for a new song to be played at the end and to be received like an old favourite.

Would definately go to see them live given the chanceSmile
