The Keep It Simple top 75 (or 40!) campaign

OK, we're still maybe 5/6 weeks away from the official release of this as a single, but I thought I might as well start the campaign now! Assuming this single is legible for the charts, I want everyone to buy all three formats.

Although it's a pretty controversial single choice, we should put all that aside and get behind the guys - I think we have enough man power for a top 75 single, and who knows, perhaps a top 40 hit if we play our cards right. I think following this strategy will give us our best chance:

When the three format deal becomes available on recordstore.co.uk, we should all place orders. Also, if anyone plans to download it, wait until the week it's out - or indicate to friends that that's the week to download it!

HQ - is there any chance of an acoustic version as part of the iTunes' single set or something? If there was one, it would surely boost sales as we could all buy that as well!

Big effort guys, I reckon we can certainly get a top 75 spot if we all go for it!

Top 75 should be acheivable but top 40 is tough nowadays, i think downloads have ruined the charts and makes it harder for smaller bands to get in. I'll certainly get all three formats

    I see colours...

Wo! There. Holy Katrina And The Waves! I get your drift Tristant and I will definitely be buying all three formats x 2 come 12 August. One for me and one for my Mrs. But hold on a minute! The above quote is a bit rich considering all the dissing you've been handing out to the album during the last two months? Sure you are entitled to your opinion but yours tended to remain stuck on the self repeat button did it not? Here are a few reminders.

"There's way too much Aaron on this record"

    "The guys have sold out"

"Now I know what it must have felt like being trapped in a lift during the Great Fire of London" on hearing Love Made Visible

"What on earth were they thinking. The music is just rubbish" on hearing No Contest

    and

"Youth is an old fart. The production is rubbish" on Drowned in Sound

And you still managed to blag your way into the secret Joiners show last year too. What a Dude! So I applaud your intuition Tristant and the need to get the fans out there and buy the new single. But just take my hand and let me help you climb down off your Indie Jesus Soap Box and then I'll make you a nice cup of tea.

    Then you can

I've obviously made public my problems with this record Frank, but what I've always said throughout the entire thing is that I will keep on supporting the guys. This is an extension of this.

Some of those quotes aren't mine as well - "Youth is an old fart" - I know nothing about Youth. I do dislike the production on the album - that's one of the problems - but I haven't made a personal attack on Youth. And that Love Made Visible one? Well, you're making that up.

Delays are also one of my favourite live bands, so I'll always take up the oppurtunity to support them whether it's Joiners or a festival. Or perhaps I detect a note of resentment that you didn't get to see the band in a highly intimate home venue gig?

Essentially Frank, you're an idiot who's trying to stir things up but I'm not going to rise to it. If the most exciting thing in your life is compiling (mis)quotes of mine from various websites and seemingly stalking me as far back as October last year then so be it, but this is an internet forum, so get over it.

Hey Up. Er what Trish? I was merely pointng out a few home truths that's all lad. I mean, who could forget the Sunday night the album went straight into number 26 on the chart and there's you the following day smug as you like with a glass of champagne in your hand stating just how delighted you were with your ability to predict into the future after your midweek tip. And there's all us just cringing behind our PC's knowing any Saturday night now you'll suck up to Rowly and the lads down Lenons giving it all the I'm right behind you lads patter. Pleeeeeese!

Tristant - ignore it and it might just go away you know like a bad smell or a boil on the ass Wink

All that matters is the music.....
